Once we’re happy with the initial concept, you will start to receive the rest of your web copy to review and feedback. Depending on the size of your project, this may be split into 2-3 phases (to keep things moving smoothly).

Revisions

Whenever I write website copy, it will always consider and apply SEO (unless it’s not your goal… say you’ve hired me to write a very specific sales page linked with an email list, for instance). A *huge* part of website copywriting is search engine optimisation – it’s about the keywords you use, how you use them, how you apply them in your design (header tags) and other important attributes such as meta descriptions + title tags (always included). SEO is also simply about great copy.
Clear, compelling + creative copy will perform better on Google because it’s a better user experience – and Google knows this *eye balls emoji* from how long your users stick around.
So yes, it is nearly always included – unless we specify otherwise. And I want to assure you I know my stuff (I even went to Google London HQ for a training day once - how la-de-dah is that?)
Things can get busy! If you have a concrete deadline in mind (like your designer needing copy by a certain date), get in as soon as possible. Most average-sized projects take about 8 weeks from start (homework + kick-off) to completion (wrapping your copy up for your website designer).

I’ve worked with a decent bunch of US-based businesses + brands now (check the portfolio), and it’s super easy for me to put my US spelling hat on (and spellchecker is just a tap of a button). A touchy question for a copywriter… I joke! I’m actually not against AI copywriting tools, and I think they have a purpose in many places. But not in my custom web copy. This web copy is written by a human, with real human lived experience for other humans.
However, occasionally, I may ask ChatGPT to help me with editing tasks – such as suggesting an alternative work or refining a heading. This doesn’t mean I’ll go with it, but it’s like having someone to bat an idea off. Sometimes, AI helps me move forward and sparks an idea – but it doesn’t give me the exact answer.
I see AI as an assistant helping me out, but it never ever ever writes (or should I say ‘generates’) your copy.
It is me, Zoe – and only me – who writes your fully custom web copy. I create the strategy, guide the message and write those words. I don’t outsource any of that.
However, I sometimes get help from experts with proofreading + editing. This means I do what I’m best at and then let other grammar + syntex experts feed in — so you get the very best of each aspect.
