August, you’ve been so so lovely. But am I glad you’re over? Yes I am.
There’s this deeply nostalgic, almost aching feeling I’ve carried all month. Like, I am so aware that these might just be the best moments of my life. You know those reels that say, “This is where I’ll go back to when I’m 90 years old,” and then it shows your kids just being kids? Oh, I feel that to my core.
August has been full of those moments. Where I’ve looked around and thought: this is it. I’ve won the jackpot. I love that this — right here — is my life.
But. Of course there’s another side.
As I write this, the sunshine is streaming in. My partner is downstairs with our little boy, watching K-pop Demon Hunters for the 100th time this week. I’ve escaped upstairs after an afternoon of sorting, tidying, adjusting, organising. Fresh from an everything shower, hair in a towel, leave-in conditioner doing its thing, glass of bubbly in hand.
It’s easy to romanticise.
Really, August has also been… a lot. This morning I cried over something so small. Just the weight of all the little things: labelling uniform pieces, hemming trousers, meal planning, replying to this and that. The mental load of it all — being the copywriter, the business owner, the mum…
And yet, I wouldn’t swap it.
Two things can be true
I love the ditching of routine. The day trips. The lunches out. The mummmmyyy pauses. The snack making. Grabbing a coffee. Walking the dog. Putting the OOO on. Drawing pictures. Stopping to look at bugs. Working before the sun rises. Working after the sun sets. Making it all fit around life.
(I sometimes don’t love these things.)
And I also love the 9–5 routine. The silence. The focus. The deep dive into website copywriting projects. The satisfaction of closing the laptop at the end of the day knowing the impact I’ve made. The ROUTINE. Did I say routine?
Two things can be true. And that’s what August has taught me. I love it, but I love it as a season. And now… I am so ready for September.
Especially with a four-year-old about to start his first day at primary school!
What September looks like
✨ Finalising a bespoke web copy project for a custom joinery brand – taking their site from “just sitting there” to working hard for them.
✨ Supporting a systems expert + business consultant to create a strategic website that guides clients seamlessly from discovery (hi Google) to enquiry.
✨ Laying the SEO foundations for a visibility strategist so she can show up in front of the right people + start building real authority online.
✨ Guiding a boudoir photographer with website structure, copyediting + SEO support to get her words launch-ready.
✨ Speaking + teaching in two incredible communities – one for high-end women in business, and one for pregnancy + birth businesses.
September intentions (straight from my journal)
✨ Say yes to the opportunities that move me forward (even if they feel a little scary).
✨ Ask the uncomfortable questions. No one’s going to eat me. No one is a Bear.
✨ Invest in the people + support that help me grow and deliver more for my clients.
✨ Lean into learning – it feels so good, remember? You’re not done.
✨ Get clearer on my secret sauce: not just website copywriting, but the full website strategy. The whole big picture.
✨ Celebrate progress in all the ways (not just the bank balance, because August has reminded me about the other stuff).
